Maharashtra Braces for Heavy Rainfall: Red Alert Issued!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Konkan and Western Maharashtra due to intensified rainfall expected until August 20th. Regions, especially in the ghat areas of Konkan and Western Maharashtra, are warned to be vigilant for the next two days. A red alert signifies the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall.

For the past four days, many parts of Maharashtra have experienced continuous rainfall. Marathwada, previously facing drought conditions, has received satisfactory rainfall, providing much-needed relief to crops. The weather department urges citizens and authorities to remain alert as the downpour is expected to continue.

Considering the severity of the rainfall, the weather department has issued different alerts for various districts:

    • Pune Ghatmatha: Monday (18th) and Tuesday (19th)
    • Satara Ghatmatha: Monday (18th) and Tuesday (19th)
    • Kolhapur Ghatmatha: Monday (18th)
    • Raigad: Monday (18th)
    • Ratnagiri: Monday (18th)
    • Palghar: Tuesday (19th)

Orange Alert Zones (Heavy Rainfall Expected):

    • Konkan:
      • Palghar (18th, 20th)
      • Thane (18th, 19th)
      • Mumbai (18th, 19th)
      • Raigad (19th, 20th)
      • Ratnagiri (19th)
      • Sindhudurg (18th, 19th)
    • North Maharashtra:
      • Jalgaon (18th)
      • Nashik (19th, 20th)

Stay Safe: Advisory for Citizens

Given the persistent heavy rainfall, citizens, especially those residing in ghat areas and near riverbanks, are urged to exercise utmost caution. Residents in areas prone to landslides are advised to relocate to safer locations. Authorities have issued necessary instructions to ensure public safety.
